Intellligent Alien Life Could Resemble Earth’s Extinct Dinosaurs
New scientific research raises the possibility that advanced versions of T. rex and other dinosaurs — monstrous creatures with the intelligence and cunning of humans — may be the life forms that evolved on other planets in the universe. “We would be better off not meeting them,” concludes the study, let by noted scientist Ronald Breslow, Ph.D. The study focuses on the century-old mystery of why the building blocks of terrestrial amino acids (which make up proteins), sugars, and the genetic materials DNA and RNA exist mainly in one orientation or shape.

I think a lot of people are taking this a bit too literally.  I’m sure nobody wants to go read the actual paper, but here is another perspective on Breslow’s statement.
Do Intelligent Dinosaurs Really Rule Alien World’s?
“But this conjecture makes Dinosaur Tracking’s Brian Switek’s “brain ache” — why Breslow is speculating about advanced alien dinosaurs doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.
“Our planet’s fossil record has intricately detailed the fact that evolution is not a linear march of progress from one predestined waypoint to another,” says Switek. “Dinosaurs were never destined to be. The history of life on earth has been greatly influenced by chance and contingency, and dinosaurs are a perfect example of this fact.”
In other words, there’s no reason to think dinosaurs are an inevitable consequence of the evolution of life. It just so happened that life on Earth produced dinosaurs, but they aren’t the only examples of life and life doesn’t have to go through a “dinosaur phase” before it can move onto the next evolutionary step.”
Or even better,
Adding dinosaurs always makes research sexier
“Yeah. Right. I’d like to know what kind of research is finding intelligent dinosaurs on other planets. All you have to do, though, is read beyond the first paragraph to discover that this is from an article published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society, that it is entirely about the chirality of prebiotic chemistry, and that its primary speculation is that the predominance of left-handed, or L amino acids, in our biochemistry is a consequence of a bias in the delivery of extraterrestrial amino acids to Earth…that biology expanded on a bias in the handedness of the raw materials at the beginning of life.”
